Abstract:

Printed circuit boards are the most important part of all electronic devices and the production of these boards consists of many critical processes such as solder printing and component placement. Production lines contain different inspection devices such as Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) and Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) in order to detect the defects in circuit boards. Since these devices may not determine some defects, the boards are also inspected by X-Ray devices. This project aims to develop a neural network model that takes SPI and AOI measurement values as input and predicts potentially defective boards before X-Ray testing. The model allows performing X-Ray tests of suspicious boards, rather than randomly chosen circuit boards. The data will be collected for 17MB170R4 model boards, which are the main board of televisions produced in Vestel Electronics Factory, and this model will be applied for four Ball Grid Array (BGA) components on this board. By virtue of the model, it is possible to detect all defective boards by X-Ray testing only 1% of all circuit boards produced.
